Running windows live on Windows Vista Home Premium.

I don't actually know what i've done apart from i downloaded WindowsOneLiveCare (Or something.)

And i get this error when i sign in!

"We were unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time. Please try again later.

To let us try troubleshoot the problem, click the troubleshoot button.

Error code: 80048820

Extended error code: 80048416"

I then click the troubleshoot button and i get all the ticks down to Key Ports where it says -

"Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to firewall or proxy settings. Please review your proxy or firewall settings. Please check the WLM settings etc etc."

I've done all this and it says i cannot connect to the .Net Messenger service.

Can anyone help me? It might be something silly.

I've had my firewall on and off tried everything to my knowledge! HELP!

Thanks.

Also, a workaround until you can sort it out is an alternative all-in-one messenger.

Trillian http://www.trillian.cc or Miranda-IM http://www.miranda-im.com - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)

Hey:

this is most likely caused by your date and time settings being off, it's happened to me before. Check your day and year is correct in Windows.
