heyy guys

Been given the 'small' task by the older people of the household (who still remember what these things are!) to transfer a large amount of old vinyls to CD or at least a digital format. Ive seen entire suites and USB bits of hardware out there for the people who arn't all that technically minded, and thought, what a rip off!

Ive used a fair bit of audio recording/editing software before, mainly audacity and Adobe Soundbooth (CS3 i believe) and found them not bad, but not fantastic for doing lots of recording. Ideally im looking for something that can record from your line in, and has a built in hiss/pop/crackle remover that doesnt require hours to use on each individual track. On that subject, i dont know if something like it exists, but it would be really good if the software could split the audio into seperate tracks when it notices a gap, like you get between tracks.

And just to make it even easier, i really dont want to pay much, preferably nothing at all!

Dont know if such a piece of software exists mind you, but am just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience in recording audio in this sort of situation!

Cheers,
MCTW

Yeah Audacitys the best for this kind of thing.

But it'll still take hours! Have fun
