heyy guys
Been given the 'small' task by the older people of the household (who still remember what these things are!) to transfer a large amount of old vinyls to CD or at least a digital format. Ive seen entire suites and USB bits of hardware out there for the people who arn't all that technically minded, and thought, what a rip off! Ive used a fair bit of audio recording/editing software before, mainly audacity and Adobe Soundbooth (CS3 i believe) and found them not bad, but not fantastic for doing lots of recording. Ideally im looking for something that can record from your line in, and has a built in hiss/pop/crackle remover that doesnt require hours to use on each individual track. On that subject, i dont know if something like it exists, but it would be really good if the software could split the audio into seperate tracks when it notices a gap, like you get between tracks. And just to make it even easier, i really dont want to pay much, preferably nothing at all! Dont know if such a piece of software exists mind you, but am just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience in recording audio in this sort of situation! Cheers, MCTW |

Yeah Audacitys the best for this kind of thing.
But it'll still take hours! Have fun
