IMHO:Vegas Studio + DVD seems to be the most stable, budget video editor. Haven't used Adobe low end video software, but I hear it is also reasonably stable.I've used Pinnacle Studio 9 and it is very flaky. Search and see - many others have had stability issues.Higher end Pinnacle Liquid edition with HD editing evidently runs well on Dual core processors, but chokes on lesser machines.Unless you have a very strong PC, I would recommend stable and reliable over any other feature packed solutions. For stability, Vegas Studio or Vegas full edition is Rock solid.

Adobe Premier is very good if you're serious, if not use Premier Elements it has all the core features you need if you want to make a good quality video.
