Hi guys just installed.... indeo(R) video version 5.11 and indeo audio 2.5 this is to allow 1 game to play on my pc..the game being "risk" My os is xp sp3 and during installation of codecs the software install shield replaced and backed up the original codecs.Unfortunately I dont know where they were backed up to or how to reinstall them if it proves necessary. Can anyone advise please thanks. rep

Games don't use codecs.

yes they do To install the game risk I get error message about codecs by indeo rep

Installers definatly don't use codecs.

It was probably trying to get you to install something else at the same time. Like Firefox is associated with Yahoo, and asks to install the toolbar during setup.

ok granted that it probably wasnt the installer. But that isnt the point. Where did the backups go and can I get them back?

Well I don't see why you need them now if it's working, but it probably installed a utility for rolling it back? Check in Start, or Programs in CP.

If not your best options just looking through likely files on the hard drive to be honest.

Of course, ideally you would have taken note of where it was saying it will save them to, or even change it to somewhere convenient for you
