Default Convert .mov (Quicktime) files to .avi files?

I'm having trouble converting my .mov files talken with my Olympus camera (Quicktime) to dvd. I have no troubel with my .avi video taken with my new Canon camera. These files render with no problem when I convert from .avi to the dvd format. Even when I try to "smack" the .mov files I get a message that "Bink" has run into a problem that it can't solve and the effort is aborted.

Is there a way I can convert my .mov video to .avi so I can use my dvd software to burn these videos to a dvd disc?

Yes - thanks. I can get the file "binked" now and I also seem to be able to get the file converted from mov to avi but when I try to play that converted file on my wmp I get audio only with no video. Am I missing a video codec on my wmp? If so how do I know which one I need and where do I get it? I have Ace mega Codecs Pack - would I find it there and how do I know which one it is?

I can play .mov files on my quicktime player no problem, and I play my .avi files on my wmp - no problem. It's just this one file I converted from mov to avi just minutes ago that when I play it on my wmp I get audio but no video. I think I need a video codec for my wmp.

Try the K-Lite codec pack.
