Just use WMP or WinAMP to rip it?

CDs are protected against copying ..... there are programs that will allow you t drag & drop, but the format would not be mp3 and an album for example that is not compressed will take up tons of space ... i.e upto 700mb per CD.

When you rip them, as Carbon suggested they will be compressed into either mp3 or wmv files, depending what program you use. Thes will be approx one sixth of the size, using average settings (128kbs).
