Ok, hard to exlpain in the title, but basically I understand that this isn't remastering, so don't please shout at me for that.
Re-mastering, in case some out there don't, simply means going back to the original file (or film strip) and working it as whatever the new format is (eg Blu-Ray) the reason this works is that when they make the first release, say on VHS, it compressed to a certain point, that is suitable for the media being used at that time, at a later date we have a better format like DVD, and can go back to the original copy of the film and make a DVD copy, which is less compressed than the VHS one, and therefore better. However what I am looking for, is the kind of software you see on "The Making of" bits, or other things like that, where they basically remove the white specks you get on old film, or graininess and lines. Often is done frame by frame on what people like Sony wrongly call "New Re-Mastered Edition", such as their Bond film collection. I just want to be able to do this myself, mostly for interest for some of my old VHS's. I know it's available, because I've seen someone using it, but I'm out of contact with the person, and can't for the life of me remember the program. ![]() TIA, Ollie.
