I can't afford Photoshop. I just use GIMP. Its a nice free alternative. But it's slow and crashes way too much.

Yes,I used photoshop to edit pictures,creating logos and edit pictures.The version I used is CS2 because I can manage well all the tools there compare to CS3.

I bet your using the 2.6.- version, try an older one

delete brushes you don't need or want to speed up the start up and you should be set

I use CS2, usually just to touch up pictures, or do some light editing, but also for the creation of wallpapers.
