I like Xilisoft avi to DVD, there's alot of freeware programs out there as well, I just never found good quality and nero does do a good job as well.

There is also Slysofts Anydvd that gets past most encryption. I have it and there is a lot of good feedback on it from it's users.

Well, I use Mac, I always burn DVD with iSkysoft AVI to DVD for mac.
