Firstly this is on behalf of my brother as I have never used this program before.

Basically he got this program because he wants to create his own DVD menus. He attempted to this he created it, converted it however when he tested it, it looked his own words crap. So he asked to post this to see if any you guys have any suggestions as to what he may/may notbe doing wrong. The PC is running Windows Vista Home Premium.

He sent me some screenshots, but I'm not sure which ones will be useful. Did you want me to provide a link to all of them?

In what way are they "crap"? Rough edges, pixelated, generally bad quality... ? Guess the screenshots would help..

Ok... IMHO that looks fine...

But I'm no expert on creating titles in films having only done it a few times myself.. (so if someone else wants to have a look..)

However for a home-made title screen that looks pretty good..

Which does make me wonder if he has some other problem..

Such as a bad screen resolution, or if (I know this works with nVidia not sure about other models) his GPU is set more balanced towards performance than quality (ie things move quicker but with rougher edges)

I don't think it could be a problem with WMP, as the screenshot is from within the program. so any quality problem on there would show up on mine to..

I don't see anything wrong with them at all. Why not burn them to a DVD and see how they look on a TV?

DVD Lab Pro is a fine program with masses of features and I have had no problems with its output, though beta releases tend to have bugs. (Betas are on the History page at the web site.)

Any problems are almost certainly with (a) the mpg files you feed it with or (b) the player use for playback. DVD Lab uses the mpg files without conversion so is extremely fast at compiling and/or incremental recompiles. You can use just about any video as a menu and put hotspots on it, even go down to the micro language of the DVD itself for special effects.
