| Hiya, I'm having an issue playing DVDs on my PC (which has XP). Recently, my DVDs are playing slower than normal and then skip a lot, as though they are trying to catch up with themselves. This only happens with DVDs, downloaded movies are fine. My friends says it could be a codec issue, but I don't know what that means or how to fix it. I recently downloaded a game which took up a lot of hard drive space, could this have something to do with it? If so, it was a game I downloaded from the internet, I don't know how to get it off my hard drive eg onto a disk...would any disks fit it? Thanks |

| If it is a codec problem then there is a package called k-lite codec pack that is worth downloading. It is free. Codec means encode-decode, get it? I would recommend uninstalling that game if you think it is the cause.

| Yeah I thought someone would say that. Trouble is, I love the game and paid quite a bit for it. Do blank DVDs store games? Would getting it off my hard drive and onto a DVD work? |

| Playing a game from a DVD would just slow it down, even if it agreed to run. You should store your downloaded files on a blank DVD though. as a backup. Try the codec thing and let us know how you get on.

| OK I downloaded it, and it's still the same. Could it be the settings on the codec? Because I just used the default stuff... I have no idea! |
