Hello,
I can't get anything to record through my microphone. I tried both of my computer's microphone jacks, I tried two different mics, Device Manager doesn't show any problems under "Sound, video and game controllers," the Volume for the Microphone Recording and Playback in the Control Panel's "Sounds and Audio Devices" are set to maximum, with equal balance, and the Sound Hardware Test Wizard's Microphone Test doesn't detect my voice at all. Any suggestions?=) Thanks |

What software are you using to record?

Not trying to be patronising, but is the mic definatly turned on!?
You'd be surprised... I went for weeks thinking my computer had broken while I'd been on holiday, then I remembered I turned it off at the PSU to save on fire risk ![]() Other than that.. do the mics need any drivers or anything? Have they worked before? Is the correct input device selected in Audition? Try using something simple like Windows sound recorder in accessories, does that work?

The mic doesn't have an off switch, so it's on:)
It always worked before without drivers It doesn't work in Sound Recorder either:( |

My microphone still isn't recording anything on my computer.
I'm only guessing that it's a "driver" issue, but I don't know where to get the proper one that would make the microphone aspect work. Here's a screen capture of my Device Manager with the Sound controllers showing: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...09065433AM.jpg Which of the items listed there controls the microphone? That may be a good start in my finding out where to download the driver I need. Thank you! |

I also tried "Driver Detective" upon Googling for a possible solution, and it gave me an interesting missing driver notice for a "Multimedia Audio Controller - PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5," as seen in this screen capture here:
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...09073611AM.jpg But I can't download the driver it wants me to unless I register the program for $30. Is there any way to find out what the driver is/where to get it, just from the info they did give me alone? |

For record screen and sound from microphone, I use Quick Screen Recorder. It works great and very easy to use. hope that helps.
