Today I've been trying to fix a fault where iTunes refuses to load in Windows Vista giving the message:

"iTunes has stopped working"

Goggle brought up next to nothing so I thought a post here world help current and future members.

Basically reinstalling iTunes does not fix it.

Other advice about deleting dlls and other registry mods does not fix it.

Reinstalling Apple Quicktime does. :)

Thanks.

So you are able to use iTunes now?

Or are you having to use Quicktime?

so was this a fresh install or a delayed problem and with what version of iTunes? Was vista an upgrade or a clean install?

Yeah I'm able to use iTunes now, turns out Quicktime is part of it behind the scenes.

It worked fine for months, just stopped a few days back.

I'm running the latest version 7.3.1.3.

Vista was a clean install.

Hi

Can someone help please!?

I am now getting the same message. I tunes has been working perfectly from day 1 on my computer that had vista preinstalled, but now I get the dreaded 'i tunes not working' message.

I already had the Vista codecs pack installed and all was working fine. I installed 'AVI2DVD' the other day, and don't think I had tried itunes since today. I think this may have caused it!

I have unistalled 'AVI2DVD', tried to repair itunes. Then I unistalled itunes, downloaded the latestest version (i think I was one behind the latest), and reinstalled. This doesn't help. I then repaired itunes again from control panel and quicktime, still no joy.

I then removed the vista codec pack also, and reinstalled but still not working.

I think AVI2DVD may have had a load of stuff bundled with it, its the only thing that I can think of that will have caused this.

Can anyone help please??

Many thanks!
