OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition

I installed Media Converter 0.8 a few months back and its been working fine.

But now when I try to open it all I get is a box that says "WindowsApplication1 has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I have tried reinstalling Media Converter but I still get this message.

What does it mean and how do I fix it?

thanks!

Did the failure start when you applied the most recent service pack?

Are you running as an admin account? Are you running from a different account to the one when it used to work?

Have you moved the program to a different folder?

Not that anyone does, but have you changed the security permissions for any part of your file system?

I'm trying to discover a lack of permission to do what used to be permitted.

There are plenty of other free media converters available. Just Google for them. The one you are using doesn't sound particularly good....

thanks for the reply spot!

The last service pack I applied was service pack 3 but I put that on months before I first installed media converter.

Yes I am using an admin account and I use the same account each time I log on.

nope its still in the same location: "C:\Program Files\Media Converter SA Edition"

No I dont think I have changed security permissions for any part of my file system.
I don't know how to do that but If something has been changed accidentally I wouldn't know about it lol

I know you say SP3 was installed a long time before but I would be 90% certain that it is causing your problems.

It is still in beta and does currently cause a lot of programs to go bad.

I have had this problem multiple times, and the best advice I can give is not to use SP3 until it is ready for prime time.

ok.
I removed service pack 3 and my system information says I am now using the latest version of service pack 2, media converter still doesn't open.

Well I'm afraid I have not other ideas.

You could try contacting the developer and see if he has any ideas.

Otherwise, you will have to find another one...
