Default Mp3 bigger than Wma?

my girlfriend just converted some Wma files on to Mp3, usually i have seen that Wave formats and also Wmas are bigger usually in size but this time is that normal or i am just overreacting? the thing is that I wanted to put the files on my mp3 player and even though it does plays wma, i thought it would take less space on mp3 format...

MP3 and WMA are both compressed formats so will be roughly the same I think.

thanks for the info, i was checking that but what i saw is that the WMA file was kind of 700kb and after the conversion to MP3 it was like 1.5MB... thats why i was surprised, but is logical what you explain.

Thanks
