I recently gained possession of an old computer and started riping it down and such.
I figured out how to format and install the old hard drive on my own, but I cannot figure out how to install one of the old comps drivers. All I really want to do is be able to use two monitors to expand my desktop (my comp only came with one port for a monitor). Anywho, the driver I took from the old comp has a port for a monitor so I figured it is a graphics card. The physical instillation seemed to go fine (grounded my self and all), but when I turned on the comp, nothing really happened. I got the whole "new hard-ware found", blurb but then it just says failed to install. When I go into the add new hardware screen, this is what I see, "ati Technologies inc. 3d rage pci II+", I try to install but it just says that the device cannot start (code 10). My operating system is xp by the way.

I would greatly appreciate any help as to what to do next!
(sry this is so long by the way).

You need to find out the graphics card make and model.

Sometimes it is written on the actual hardware itself.

All it says on the hardware is a serial number and a sticker that says made in taiwan, I figured that it was an ati product, specifically a 3D rage II+ PCI card.

You need to download the drivers from the ATi website.

Though I found similar model name\s on that site, none where exact matches, should I wing it with one that looks close?

I doubt it will work, it is possible your card is so old it isn't supported anymore.

I'd suggest a replacement, a low end card can be had for next to nothing online.
