Vista x64 Pro, SP2.

I have an ASRock P43Twins 1600 with on-board 5.1 surround sound.

Didn't have any problems before reformatting my PC and re-installing Windows (due to a major registry problem); anyway, since doing so I can't get audio conversations working properly over MSN.

People can hear me, but I can't hear them.

I can fix this by going into Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel and switching from 5.1 to stereo. Naturally I want 5.1 for my music and games and so on, but I can't understand why MSN audio conversations are playing up in 5.1

Here's what it looks like:

I've installed the normal audio drivers/programme from the motherboard disk, and I've also updated them to the latest version (both directly from Realtek's website and through Windows itself)

So, how can I get my 5.1 working properly again?

Also, I should point out that after doing a fair bit of Googling on the subject, a lot of people tend to recommend switching from analog to digital. However, I can't seem to do this; when I do, and test it, I get no sound.

Ideally I'd like digital 5.1 surround sound up and running properly. :embarased

Sorry if this is the wrong forum by the way. It could have gone into one of several categories, and as I presumed it was a driver issue I put it here.
