| Hi, I asked this at another forum but noone was able to help me, Ive posted everything that was suggested. So I opened my pc up a few days ago to clean it and ever since then theres been no sound, im guessing I must have knocked something out of place, ive since tried making sure that everything is plugged in properly (albeit not knowing what any of it does) and still nothing, as far as I know this is 100% a hardware problem, ive updated my drivers and used different speakers and still nothing. Ive also tried reformating, so im certain its hardware related. So if I was going to try and fix it myself, what would I have to try to look for? system specs: Radeon 9200 all in wonder Amd athlon 1700 1024mb ram N-vidia n-force audio Xp sp 2 running ad-aware, comodo, spybot and windows cleaner constantly. thanks alot. One of the posters suggested to check the capacitors on my mobo, all of them were fine as far as I could tell. Last edited by Justaddwater : 02-10-2007 at 04:10 PM. |

| Do you have a PCI sound card or is it on-board?

| Hi, thanks for the reply, you plug the speakers into this yellow box which is (I think) connected to the mother board. I fiddled around with it a bit and it was sturdy. So I guess its onboard. ![]() Last edited by Justaddwater : 02-10-2007 at 04:17 PM. |

| It is on-board, and your problem is not hardware related. Providing the speakers are plugged into the correct socket and are working it is most definitely down to motherboard sound drivers. I take it there is a ! mark in device manager under sound?

| It's installed fine then. Are you 100% sure the speakers are in the correct port. You could also check the sound isn't muted in control panel.
