| Hello All, Recently bought an 8cm DVD camcorder. My PC however, refuses to play the discs making it all a bit pointless! Is there any 'obvious' reason for this? (My PC/IT knowledge is dreadful by the way!) Thanks for any help in advance Darren |

| Is the CD drive in your PC a DVD drive?

| Thanks for your reply. Yes it is a CD/DVD recorder which has only been in the PC about 6 months. Admittedly, it was only about 30 quid but functions fine otherwise. DW |

| You will need the correct codecs and software to play them also. Get this codec pack > http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...oDecS_Pack.htm If that doesn't solve it get some DVD playing software too like PowerDVD.

| Davehybrid, Thanks very much for the advice. A colleage offered the same advice and proved it by playing my 8cm on his laptop, thanks to NERO. I will be buying software at the weekend, then hopefully all my problems will be solved. (no, that'd take a miracle!) DW |

| Im having the same problem at the moment, using a Canon DC95 MiniDVD, Panasonic 8cm 1.4GB 8cm dvds and my pc wont have it at all. Windows wont recognise the DVD, it takes Aggggges to stop reading the disc. Nero showtime, PowerDVD absolute latest edition and Windows Media wont play it. I know the drives fine on all other fronts but cant understand this unless its purely a dodgey dvd brand for my drive.....hmmm any ideas? |

| Have you closed Finalised the disc on the Cam itself ? |

| Well whats happened was that the disc wouldnt finalise, i tried for ages and it wouldnt let me use the option. I read the manual and it said the option should let me finalise the disc at any time. What the manual failed to tell me was that you need to have the camcorder plugged in charging before it will let you finalise, typical! So i finalised it and it all works spot on now, the one and only time i read a manual and its wrong! Cheers anyway |

| Lmao of topic here but that's a typical manual for you "will finalise anytime" (Hidden message, only finalises when charging)
