Default Post-Format Problems

I was recently given a computer by one of my friends who didn't want it anymore after he upgraded.
When I got it, it was in a pretty bad shape. So I re-partitioned and formatted the hard disk, and used the setup disk to re-install Windows XP.

Here's some screeshots of what I discovered afterwards:

Ok. So apparently there is no Display device. I don't know a great deal about computers, but I'm pretty sure that without a display adapter, the computer should not function at all.

The guy that gave it to me wasn't sure himself of what graphics card he had purchased for it. So I opened it up, and to my suprise, found absolutely no card inside. Then I did a bit of research and learnt about the existance of IGP's. CPU-Z tells me that the motherboard is made by SiS, which according to Wiki produce only IGPs and not cards. I thought I was on a roll.
I went to the SiS site, and downloaded the correct drivers for the chipset (741GX) and tried to install them. I got an error message, telling me that there is no VGA driver.
I'm unsure about what to do here. If anyone could shed some light on my situation, that would be great. And if there is anything I need to explain further, or any extra information that might be needed, feel free to ask me for it.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. And I figured that, because I think this is more to do with motherboards/IGP's, I'd put this thread here. If I'm wrong and this is in the wrong section, then I apologise. =)

Hi Fayde, did you get the message "no display driver" upon trying to install the file you downloaded or after the installation?

Well, since I made the post, I downloaded the SiS VGA Utility package from the ASUS support website, and that got the VGA controller installed. But at the moment, it's using the integrated SiS Mirage display adapter, which is a little outdated. The previous owner has told me that there should be a card in here at 128mb as opposed to the Mirages 32mb.
I've opened it up and found nothing. The I/O plate is not in use. Hence the AGP and PCI slots are all empty, which leads me to believe that the 128mb card is also integrated. If it was an AGP or PCI card, I'd have no trouble using BIOS to reconfigure it to use the card. But it too, seemingly, is integrated, so I have no idea how to get it working.

You can only have one integrated graphics card, that being the SIS one.

I've been told that there's a Geforce 4 MX in it. Would that be possible seeing as the AGP and PCI slots are all empty?

100%, categorically, impossible.

Then the only possible explanation is that he's taken the card out before giving the PC to me. -_-
