Default Roxio10 has left me baffled?

I installed Roxio's emc10 suite some months ago. I only burn files maybe once a month when I put my income stuff on disc. I used their older version 7 for a long time and liked it.

I use cd-r verbatim disc's and always write by the tao "open" because I will add or take thing off that are no longer needed. I know writing in "open" is not the best way, but it still closes each session at the end while leaving the disc open for future use.

Here's what happened..... First, I have never had any problems for years doing this. Last week I wrote 2 small files to the disc as usual. When it was finished, I read the disc to make sure they were there before I deleted them from the computer. They were there. About an hour later I found the last file to complete the years income disc so I put it back in..... There were only 4 of the first 12 months on it and neither of the 2 recent files? I pulled it and put it back in...now only 1 stinking file on it! Right after that I started getting Roxio error pop-ups for what I believe was the tray icon and update manager which I have always set to disable. (roxwatchtray10.exe)

Roxio told me to do a complete uninstall and a clean reinstall to fix the error pop-ups. I uninstalled it but before I reinstalled it, I put that disc back in. It showed the first 4 months like the first time it messed up when it aparently didn't write...just lost the files? I put it in my laptop with the same results. (Read carefully) Then I reinstalled the Roxio sw and put the disc in....back to 1 stinking file? Put it in the laptop...same thing? How in the heck can this be? How can this do the same thing on 2 computers and one of them has never had Roxio on it...even if it mattered? When I look at the properties on this disc, it shows 181 mb's used but it will only show 1 file on it? Is there any way to get to the other 180+ mb's of data it says is there?

BTW, the reinstall still has the pop-up errors and now I'm affraid to put ANY disc in it!

My questions. And sorry for the long story.
If you write an appendable disc, and it writes in seperate sessions which are closed, how can a file disapeer from within a session? I can see the entire session fading away, but not a file inside it?
How can they reappear when the writing sw is uninstalled?
Could the pop-ups be caused by yet another stupid windows update that the vender hasn't tackled yet? It worked after service pack 3, so what the?
I'm having a few other problems like the Mitsumi 7-in-one floppy will no longer read flops, internet expolrer7 crashing, my mind crashing, and I am about to scrub the hd and start over, but now I can't export my outlook express emails!

I did just that today. But I will not reinstall Roxio until Sonic/Roxio answers my questions about what happened
