    I know it's possibly a silly question but I'm not that skilled in this topic: I found a song contest on myspace and there is a video clip on this page. The artist had to write a song that fits to the clip. But this is not my concern. I just wanted to know (apart from the quality of the clip) which software is needed to create such a video clip. I'd like to practice and learn this video editing in my freetime but I don't know what I need for that ;)

    Video editing is not a cheap hobby. If you want to do some really light stuff, something like VirtualDub should work - otherwise, you'll probably have to buy at least a copy of Premiere Elements.

    Windows Movie Maker should cover the basics. Do you have a link to the video for us to decide whether you'd need something more advanced?

    Have a video clip,replace the original audio with other music or sounds you like. There are many softwares can do it,you dont need video editing software.
