Hello Ash

Welcome to TCF

Can you be more explicit as to why you would want an MP3 to "Time Out"?

Well, basically an mp3 that you download from a site and within, say, 3 days the mp3 doesn't play anymore.

Oh, right, sorry. Work messes with my brain.

I’m in a band and at the moment we’ve been doing really well. After giving away nearly 2000 demos over the last six months or so we’re starting to feel the pinch concerning the money we’re spending on cds, labels and covers. We’ve also realised we’re losing on the download states too. Obviously it’s great promotion but it’s expensive in the long run. Therefore I thought that when we record the next demo in a few weeks time we can actually sell it properly as mp3 downloads but I wouldn’t want people to buy it just to listen to it, I’d ideally like to give people a sample mp3 that expires after a short while so people can make the choice to buy it or to ignore it.

I hope that explains!

I'm unsure of the cost facter but have you considered this?
I'll dig deeper into this Ash and let you know.
I'm sure that, like shareware, a product could be made not to function after X time but I don't know how to do that.
