alright so i somehow managed to get myself infected with some malware/spyware/virus malarchy, so i decided to reinstall windows. which i thought went fine until i was finishing transfering my Mp3's from a disk onto my fresh harddrive, i attempted to play one and it said "cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is avaiable, or the hardware is not responding."

any ideas???

Your pc should have come with a drivers cd, that should fix the problem.

If you don't have that cd then let me know what make and model your pc is and what windows version you are using and i will see what i can find.

its an Emachines, T6003. i dont have the cds, i burrowed a buddies copy of windows xp. ive been searching for sound card driver updates but have yet to find anything.

I should have guessed its an e-machine.

E-machines themselves won be of any help whatsoever unless you pay them.

Google and get everest home edition, that will atleast tell you what mobo (motherboard) you have and possibly what sound card you have too.

I hope you realize that by borrowing your friends windows cd it means that your windows install is illegal!!!

yes i am fully aware that its illegal but it would be impossible for anyone to care any less than i do. i have no quams about doing something like that. infact, imo, it shouldnt even be illegal.
