Hi All,
I am trying to find some free software that will enable me to copy my VHS to DVD. I'm not sure how to do this but I think if I plug my VHS player into my PC I can run/copy it to DVD would this be correct any help would be gratefully appreciated

This might seem to be an easy task, but to do things properly and to get decent results, you need to spend time on it and get used to using several pieces of software. Also this assumes that you have either a decent graphics card (with video in) or a decent Capture device.

There is a good guide here , but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it and remember that many VHS Movies have Macrovision protection and are not easily copyable.

The alternative quick method, would be to hook up the VHS Player to a standalone DVD Recorder, but Macrovision limitations will still apply on some Movies.

If you only have a few to do, you may find it a lot simpler to use one of the many companies that offer this service ..... this will tend to give better results too, as they use professional, not domestic equipment.

DVD is VOB videos. You need to convert the VHS file.
