Default Watching tv on your laptop

Hey all,
My girlfriend keeps onto me "ive missed the last 2 weeks of katie & peter the next chapter" so because i didnt do anything about it she went and downloaded microsofts silverlight, but it just really slowed down the laptop and didnt work , so is there a way to catch up on missed tv programs ? ive tried tvlinks but its just a bunch of ringtones and download links to sites wich require email sign up etc
