| Hey again,

If any of you have updated iTunes in the last few days you will have been aware of the new "Genius" feature, which is supposed to find songs that go well, and put them together.. So far I've found that 80% of my songs it doesnt recognise due to different order of artists after feat. or putting feat. not in brackets etc. Also it seems to not know any songs that will go well with the remaining 20% Basically it seems like a scam to get you to buy their top albums (whether it finds similar songs or not it displays their most popular of the day albums in the sidebar) If the recognition improves drastically it may be worthwhile.. but till then I'm not going to bother. | iTunes sucks if you like classical music. The whole display is geared to pop, so the display is all wrong. You want to see the piece (album?) and composer, but your iPod shows the movement and artist! If a piece is split across sever CDs you don't want to see the title Album n! Then the podcasts are crazy, they play in the wrong order! If they constitute a course in Spanish or Quantum Theory, do you really want to start with the latest podcast? I think not!

| I don't think the display is reasonable ground to say that something is bad for playing a certain type of music. There's nothing preventing sound quality being bad for that type of music, there's even a preset on the EQ.

No, the sound is OK on both---I only use MP3s anyway---but it is difficult to see what you are playing! The criticism of the playback of podcasts still stands of course on both: play from oldest to newest, not v v! Apple is completely up the Khyber on that one. Anyway the original post made no mention of quality of playing.

However, the original post WAS on a new feature of iTunes called "Genius", not on whether people like iTunes as whole or not.

The thought of Genius tearing a piece limb from limb and treating movements as songs to mix and match still alarms me though.

| It sounds like a good idea on paper, it just isn't implemented correctly. But then I don't like iTunes or iPods so I don't have to worry about it :D |
