when i try to play some music from my computer in windows media player 11, it gives me this message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

please help. i urgently need to listen to something important

What file type are you trying to play? And where have you sourced them from and are they present?

That info is critical.

Try installing one of the packages of this thread. I use the fifth one down, works perfectly.

In case you're interested, a codec is a file that acts like a translator, so your computer can understand what the file is.
