I've been using windows media player to play some .avi files I downloaded for the past couple of weeks but it suddenly stopped working. Every time I try to open one of the files it just stops working and closes. An error message comes up saying that the problem was caused by FFmpeg.

The files open now, but they only play sound not the video.

First off, you cant go wrong with VLC player secondly check out these codecs.

Thanks but I managed to fix it, I downloaded some new codecs which fixed it. Thanks again.
