Cannot Complete Publishing In Windows Movie Maker 6.0 Vista

Hi there guys.

I have made a project comprising of youtube clips saved in a save youtube url website and converted into .wmv format to use into movie maker.
I have added some effects to the clips like sepia and sharpen etc.
There is also a WMA Audio file in the movie aswell, also a title a the begining.
I have completed the movie and want to publish it so i can upload it to youtube..
But after clicking on publish movie---> This Computer---->publish to videos---->and the best recomended settings..
I have tried other things here like saving it to the desktop instead or saving it to a email or dvd but after the rendering bar is promising for a few minutes saying like 9 minutes left i get the message come up saying

windows movie maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location.Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough space available, and then try again.

I have tried everything really and read a lot of articles on here and always end up going to papajohn website and ive read it all there 2 but nothing works...

Any help on this appreciated as i dont know what to do now.

ok first of all dont ever use windows movie maker ever! it is so bloody unstable!

Anyway, it looks like movie maker is having trouble finding the videos and/or sound files that you are using for the project so first of all make sure that they still exist, the names havent changed and that they are in the same location that they were when you imported them into movie maker. If that dosent work then right click on each of the videos in your project until you find the one(s) that movie maker cannot find and click 'browse for missing file' then direct it to the correct file on your hard drive. Failing that you could try importing them again or failing that just go with a better video editing software such as sony vegas.

yep, i think all those things are ok pal, just dont n what to do, id really like to get this project published.

Vegas is expensive also, is there a free version of the earlier model of it or something?

I dont know what to suggest then sorry, maybe another member can help.

There are free trials of vegas but I dont know of any good freeware movie makers.

One of the files may have been corrupted. You will have to search for each file and to make sure they play all the way though. You should check if you have ARC soft video creator. It comes with webcams on the disk with the driver. and sometimes blocks the windows media player. It also sometimes blocks it own programs. example: video impressions will not make ARCsoft Showbiz dvd run correctly. I believe that it is using the same files. and there is a conflict between them booth.

I use ARC soft video impressions that came with my web cam(s) .

From what it sounds like, it seems as though the files that you are using to make your movie are not available anymore. You might have moved them to a different file or deleted them.

Windows movie maker is a good easy to use program, but when useing it i had all sorts of problems with it. I would get 3/4 through a project and it would shut down on me , losing all my progress, so i use Nero 7 now, this works a treat. If you want a challenge, with some great effects, give Nero a go.
