I installed the full version of AVG yesterday and now when I try to log into hotmail it is taking it an extremely long time to load up. I also fully uninstalled Norton as the trail period was near an end and put up windos firewall. I am operationg on Vista 32.

Any suggestions on why this is so slow and solutions to get it back up to speed?

Thanks in advance,
MPenney

Did you uninstall Norton, using the Norton Removal tool ? ........ if not go here as loads of junk gets left behind, uninstalling the usual way.

I tried uninstalling it the "normal way" and it did give me problems. With CCleaner it did not seem to have any problems getting rid of it. If I type norton in the search nothing comes up, so what could be left behind?

Hotmail is notorious for having many problems, it's free so is in high demand.

There are times when I cannot get into Hotmail for days.

It is likely to be a coincidence, I would give it 24-48hrs before you start messing with things.

You would be surprised .... Norton shoves junk all over your system.

Trust me, you really do need to run the Norton Removal Tool.

Also as Dave says Hotmail can have its days .... have you tried to see if you can log on ok on another box ?

Windows is the only firewall that is running and when I log in at work to check my emails there is no problem getting straight to the inbox.

The only thing that has changed on the system is the removal of Norton and the adding of AVG 8.0.

With it being said that there is no problems getting to the inbox promptly at work and sluggish at home, any suggestions??
