I can't delete the browsing history that appears in the address bar on internet explorer 8. I go to Tools - Internet Options and then delete the history but it doesn't go. Any ideas?

Open command prompt.
Copy and paste "RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 1" without the quotes and hit enter.

I've put that in and pressed return and nothing seems to happen.

Try CCleaner.

Be sure to uncheck (or leave unchecked): "Wipe Free Space" and "User Assist History".

How do I do that?

One thing I have noticed is that it deletes recently looked at sites but keeps showing sites that were looked at a while ago in the history. It always shows the same sites after I've tried to delete it.

Go to:

Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Browsing History -> Settings
In the section marked "History" it should read "Days to keep pages in history" change it to the value of 0 and OK.

I personally prefer Mozilla Firefox out of all the browsers.
