Alright! I've had a problem for a couple weeks now.

When I'm visiting certain forums, vbulletin, and use the back arrow button at the top left of IE it doesn't take me back thru the topics I've viewed. I have to double click and sometimes triple click the back arrow in order to go back thru the pages in the forums.

Also, when I access my inbox @ attyahoo and double click a message only the header displays, not the message. I have to press the same back arrow button to view the message. The same thing happens when I view messages in my other attyahoo mail folders as well.

I don't know if I have inadvertenly changed an IE setting or what? The only thing I recall doing is having Kaspersky 2009 block a banner ad. if I recall correctly the problem started after this. I don't know if the att and IE problem is related. Everything else seems to be working fine.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Are java and flash up to date?

Also try clearing all your cookies, cache and junk using Ccleaner (free program).

I installed Java about a week ago and am not sure about Flash. I'll clear the cookies and such, again and check out Ccleaner. Thanks!

Thanks again, I have a report! I'm embarrased to post this, but...

I did all the above things one at a time, rebooted and checked for improvement between each step. No improvement! I ran the registry cleaner that came w' Ccleaner, I ran everything that came with it.

I then proceeded to my email and because of the problem accidentally deleted two very important messages. I then went into my Outlook Calendar to add a couple dates/ reminders. A message popped up stating that "a parameter was incorrect and couldn't perform function" or something to that effect. It would not allow me to add dates to my calendar. Arrgghh!

I'm not sure if Ccleaner had anything to do w' Outlook calendar not functioning, but as far as I know it was working fine prior to making the above changes.
I then proceeded to slam my laptop closed! HARD! Duh! Then, when I rebooted I received a BSOD telling me "fatal error 0x00000006". It eventually rebooted and gave me this message after POST: "a disk error has occured" "Press Ctrl alt del to reboot". I could not get into Advanced startup, only BIOS Setup. So, I figured I damaged my MBR or HDD.

I removed and reinstalled the HDD, set BIOS to boot from DVD, went into recovery console and ran fixboot. After each step I rebooted and nothing changed, still getting the disk error message.

I'm now in the process of running chkdsk /r. The chkdsk /r command is taking a long time. It checked the volume quickly, 100GB HDD, but it's been "performing additional checking or recovery...: since 1 or 2 pm and it's now at 61% complete at 7:45pm. At this rate it will take chkdsk 30+ hours to "perform additional checking or recovery....."

I have a strong feeling my hdd may be trashed now. I feel real stupid for slamming the lid closed, but am wondering if you or someone else here may be able to help me determine if the HDD is trashed or how to fix the system if not. I could start another thread if that would be better. All my googling has led me to believe the HDD or MBR is trashed. Anyway, I appreciate your help.
