i have a work computer that won't connect to the internet thru a browser. windows live messenger works, and i can ping websites thru the cmd window. system was working fine until new it monitoring service downloaded an update to sentinel. however, i don't know if this is the issue as other computers in the network downloaded this and they are fine.

In IE you can reset all the settings/customization, this normally sorts connection issues and saves going through each and every setting.
