| I had this problem for a while. But the problem is I have no idea how I fixed it LOL Just started working one day. I think it was after I downloaded Windows Live Mail Beta. But now whenever I click a link in an email in Windows Live Mail I get a message that IE was unable to open the website but then Firefox opens it fine. Very strange but I haven't had the will to sort it out. I too found that the default browser does not change it.

| You may need to rename the firefox.exe to iexplorer.exe to make it use it.

| Doesn't it work like this because Firefox doesn't handle Hotmail, except on its paid service?

It works now, but I have no idea why. All I can recommend is installing Windows Live Mail. That solved the Firefox problem and I now have much faster access to emails. It will sync on multiple computer too. By the way, don't try installing the Release Candidate of XP Service Pack 3 when you have Windows Live Mail installed. It makes very bad things happen Trust me.
