I've been having trouble on different forums for months:

often i cannot log in, i get the welcome message, but then i have to log in again,
i cannot post something although the main forum site lists my name under "logged in",
i cannot read my posts, only after i logged out or something, right now i couldn't post on General Software Chat, so i used this subforum...

Why is that?

What i did so far is delete cookies, and i checked the session cookie thing in internet options, the box was checked...so what could be the trouble? Something to do with the firewall features?

On a german forum someone told me to try firefox and that i did but then lo and behold i had that ask.com-Scheisse lol as start page.

As i googled i learnt that this seems to be a general issue with firefox.

And i'm saying this because i think it exemplifies that i'm facing not only my dummyhood but that it's sheer chaos out there...

You can change you're hompage.

Firefox is associated with Ask.com, when you run setup it'll try to badger you into installing the toolbar for it etc..

Just decline all that and it won't be your homepage and you won't have the annoying bar.

Other than that your friends probably right, and changing browsers may mysteriously solve the problem.
