Mozilla Firefox is an open source browser currently at version 2.0.0.2 Open source means no company owns the browser and the underlying code was freely submitted by people all over the world. I contains features many find very useful in their online experience and there are many more available to choose from the add-ons available from Mozilla. I personally use the Sidebar, Sage, Yahoo Toolbar, Customize Google, FireFTP, ImageZoom among others. The browser consumes less resources, is more configurable and provides me a much more satisfying online experience.

There's isn't big deal, as one might think. The key difference between this Web Browser (Mozilla Firefox), and the other proprietary web browsers is the availability of source code. Mozilla Firefox is licensed under a specific open source license (MPL) that allows one to modify the code, in the simplest sense. Not only that, one can customize this browser to his/her own requirements. A large set of plugins for Mozilla Firefox makes it more "feature rich" browser. Off late, this browser is reaching places and being liked by desktop users. There might be few more derived versions, but a famous browser among them is SwiftFox, which is more faster as compared to Mozilla Firefox. Also, the engine of this browser is Gecko, which is the base processing engine for quite a large number of browsers.
