I left some nice parting words with the ban.

And Plank, IE does out perform FF in equal tests when it comes to RAM usage. That usually translates to speed. Do some tests yourself and see. Quit relying on what you read.

Firefox is more secure. Strip down all add-ons and it is faster. With add-ons it's a pretty close race.

I'm on Opera, and have been for a dew years now, I find it works best for me, however i still use mozilla firefox too, but I use that specifically for a text based web game I play a bit, mainly because it means i can have homepage tabs for only that game, whilst keeping my previously used tabs in Opera.

Opera.
It is fact that it is the best browser you can get. The only slight advantage Fx has is the plug-ins, Opera has widgets which are nice, but not to my prference.
Then again, the plug-ins I add to Fx come delivered in Opera. I even prefer the developer tools, though I use both rarely.

Plank was factually incorrect anyway! Some of us are old enough to remember MOSAIC, the original web browser, which was open source and was killed off by the commercial upstart Netscape. Mosaic was standards based, whereas Netscape decided it would add stupid things like
Quote:
<blink>
and other Netscapisms.

IE was based on Mosaic. Firefox grew from Netscape. Now Firefox is open, so for that reason I prefer that to IE. (Plus its many add-ons of course!) In Linux I often use Konqueror as well.

Since I generally have Firefox and Thunderbird open constantly in the background, the startup time is hardly an issue.

Have you tried the edits detailed below?
