Default "You have chosen to open: st"

Hello,

This happens to me very often while using Mozilla Firefox:

It pops up and says that I wanted to open "st." The only clue I can get from it is that it might have to do with internet ads? Also, I use Windows XP Pro SP2.

Any help would be great to get rid of the annoyance. =)

Thank you

ad.yieldmanager.com suggests adware but everything I find on octet-stream suggest everything from TCP/Proxy settings to Java settings to...... (usually from a few years back) which is why I was wondering if you were up to date, so I am unsure what to think.

Have you tried any spyware scans?

If you're running Win2000 or WinXP you can add a line to your HOSTS file to stop it trying to load the ads. Under Win2000 (and XP I think) the file is found in :\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\ - the line to add is:
127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com - Originally by najaB on uplink.space.com

i use ad-aware 2007 and am running a full scan now

thanks, jimmy hat, i did that. i'll see if it works=) the only other note to add is that i had to uncheck 'read only' for the hosts file to be able to save over it

thanks
