That's called Xgl. It's like an alternate desktop environment type thing. It's most commonly used with the new OpenSuse (10.2). It's really good stuff. I tried to use it with my OpenSuse 10.2, but it wouldn't work for me. I'm pretty sure it's kinda still in beta testing. But that was awhile ago. Anyways. You can get it from the OpenSuse website. I'll give you the link. Just make sure you read all the requirements, because your computer might not be good enough to run it (which I think is why it didn't work for me). Have fun!PS: Did I mention that it's all completely free? I love Linux. There are a few other ones, like Xandros, but that's like a hundred bucks.

There are two easy ways to get the 3D desktop on Linux

easiest, download mepis from www.mepis.org (follow instructions on boot)

easy, download ubuntu, and install beryl through synaptic

Ubuntu 7.04 has compiz built in. Not Beryl :-) But you just hit Synaptic and install Beryl. This will give you all the effects. Compiz only has the cube and the wobbly windows. Beryll has much much more :-)
