Default Advice on partioning for ubatu

I would like to start learning how the linux os works but i would still like windows vista on my computer.
My question is, is it ok to partion my hardrive to instal ubantu on it aswell, are there draw backs? Dont think i would do the process myself as i have no knowledge of installing ubantu or partioning unless a noob could do it with little experience (kinda scary though).
Thanks,
Ben

yes i was abit confised by ubatu, you will probably need a 10 gig partition for ubuntu (more than enough) once this is done you can boot from he live cd, select install from the desktop and follow the steps, this will be easy
if you get stuck with anything in ubuntu add me on msn and i shall help
