Default Best Linux Operating System And Games?

Hi all,
whats the best OS system out there for Linux (i'm looking for effects, reliability, compatability with programs and also one that can play games such as dx10 games like Crysis and so on). Is Linux better than Windows Vista? and is it easy to install and do you need a fast computer for the more advanced versions of Linux (such as Beryl etc)
