Default Best version of Linux

There are many versions of Linux available.

Whats your favourite or your recommended version for a new user?

Never tried it myself.

Default Best version of Linux

We use CentOS on our Linux Servers, I've also used Ubuntu on a normal PC.

I haven't tried them all so out of the ones I have, Ubuntu or Linspire. Probably not the most technical but for a transistion from Windows to a linux OS it's a good transistion.

They've just announced a partnership of sorts actually so I don't expect they'll be hugely different in the future.

Cool, might have a play with dual boot one quiet weekend.

I have only used Red Hat and Ubuntu. To be honest making the switch is worrying for me, Red Hat gave me problems with hardware (not recognising it) but so far Ubuntu has been okay.

What is the difference between Windows and a version of Linux? Other than it being harder to hack, as firewalls can protect windows from that.

I mean, what is my incentive for changing?
