Ive used Windows all my life

1998/2000/XP/Vista

and i always find myself with problems with speed as Vista (currently using) is really slow for my computer specs and i have a friend who uses Ubuntu

So i need some help with Ubuntu

im looking for a little guide that can help me on my way i have the Ubuntu CD so this is what i have got so far

1. Download Ubuntu [DONE]
2. Burn Ubuntu [DONE]
3. Create Disk Partition
4. Install Ubuntu
5.

Im not sure how am going to do after 5 as i dont know how do install any programs on linux or connect to the internet or make my sound, mouse, screen, graphics work?

any guide

i decided to stick with vista and i made my hard drive dynamic :S opps?

The ubuntu install will allocate the partition and sort the booting out.

i tryed to boot it without creating a partition and it comes up with CD Read Error? problem with disk or what?

dam....... i was going to request a cd but it says it may take 6 weeks so i might borrow a friends if he stops sciving off school.....(cew27) lol

You may have had a bad cd also, it happens. You could also try turning down the speed of the writer to see if you have more luck.

If Ubuntu does not seem to run right on your system you could also try one of the numerous other live CD's available for Linux: http://www.livecdlist.com/

Redownload the ISO, burn it again. Or borrow you friends :P
1- go through ubuntu live CD (setting primary boot device as CD drive)
2- install through live CD
3- set up partitions using the easy GUI ubuntu interface.
4- install, and your done. Hope this helps. Its a simple process as the graphical interface in ubuntu has made install and setting up ubuntu very easy. Any problems contact me :D
