Are you referring to a version that has good driver support? I would recommend Ubuntu 8.10 or Fedora 10. They are both very well designed and you can do most of the things you need to do right after there installed.

I would say Ubuntu. After you install there is so much you can do with it to make it your own. Or you can just run it off of a live cd and go from there but i dont think you get the full effect of the Os that way.

There is no distro that has it all in my opinion since everyone's needs differ. Some distros are great for a complete OS replacement while others are geared for being a firewall, gaming os, rescue cd, ect... If you look here they have many of the available distros labeled as to what they specialize in: http://www.livecdlist.com/ For what it is worth, Ubuntu is my favorite also

Nice site clark :D My opinion is Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 is your best and safest bet. It is the newest release of ubuntu and is a very popular linux distro. It has a large driver support base and has lots of followers therefore lots of help :D Its a premium OS in my opinion!

Im loving the site. nice play. I think Ubuntu is the best for people that are just getting into Linux. With all of its support and the easy install via wubi or live cd. i have been using it for about a year now and its only going to grow and get better.
