Default help for linux

Hey, I downloaded a few Linux systems

But when I burn it for a CD,
throw it in my DvD drive, put my old hard disk in, and boot from the CD

I only get to where I have to chose from a few options.
I am able to go up and down in the list, but I can't use enter to install the OS..

What can be the problem here?
anyone tried something similarly?

thanks

what distro's did you download?
usually you burn the iso to s cd-rw and then boot of the disk, you can run the live cd or install via the advanced options
