| ...eth0, FC4, LINUX.? hey guysi m using FC4, and tried to assign ip address to eth0 as#ifconfig eth0 10.1.5.255then everything works fine.BUT, when i restart my computer, the IP address is vanished, then i have to give IP address again and again after rebooting. Is there any way so that this IP address would be retained after rebooting PC? |

| You need to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to look something like:DEVICE=eth0USERCTL=noONBOOT=yesBOOTPROTO=none BROADCAST=10.1.255.255NETWORK=10.1.0.0NETMASK=255. 255.0.0IPADDR=10.1.5.255and /etc/sysconfig/network to:NETWORKING=yesHOSTNAME=name.host.netFORWARD_IPV 4=yesGATEWAY=10.1.5.1On RedHat Enterprise there are scripts that would automate this for you, not certain if the script exists or is named the same in core 4. In RHEL4 its system-config-network. |
