The last two times I installed ubuntu i started to get boot problems. First instants i couldn't get the grub to boot it kept restarting in a loop. then recently had the time to reinstall it but it happened again and when I tried to fix it but the disk I used to fix the boot loader.
I installed the OS using ext2 but I could have sworn I installed it in ext3 I have. Can some one help me? |

Hi pest79456
Are you doing a clean install with ubuntu? You don't have any other operating systems on the computer? When I installed ubuntu I just clicked install. How much memory do you have on the computer? compwiz

no its a dual boot and and it work fine for a little bit but when i turn the thing back on it keeps running in the same cycle booting grub and I have to re install Lilo to get it to work. I have used the Super Grub Disk and even it can't run the linux partition

Is your hdd partitioned off?
It might work easier if you had two partitions. What is ext 2 and ext 3??? compwiz |

Um I must have got the partition types wrong correct me i should remember then.
but any way how could the partition be shut off when i didn't tell it too? Is that why grub refuses to detect that partition? I also tried manually booting that partition using the Super Grub Disk- or Ultimate Boot Disk- I can't remember which one. it says the partition is in the wrong format. |

Hi pest79456
You might have one on fat32 and another on ntfs which I don't think will work together. What I would do is do a clean boot with your xp (if that is what you have) and do 2 partitions and note them down. Just make sure that they are the same format. Then try to install ubuntu. compwiz |
