Today I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 (x86 version) for my desktop, and I installed it. Everything looks really nice and seems to be working except for one of the things I use the most: internet.
I use an external adapter with a Linksys router, this combination worked just fine when I still had XP Pro installed on my desktop. The internet manager on Ubuntu does find the network, but it seems like it cannot connect to it. I've inserted the WEP key (tried 3 times and yes.. I am using the correct code) but nothing works. The only thing I get is pages which just don't load, but it doesn't give me the "Mozilla Firefox cannot display the webpage" error either.. so I guess that's a good thing? I made a couple of screenshots of the stuff I got in CMD when I typed in ifconfig, but I can't put them on my usb drive because the file system isn't formatted properly (also won't do it for me). Any help is appreciated. tmockingbird |

Have you tried a live distribution to see if you experience the same? PCLinuxOS is by far the `easiest to install, thoght OpenSUSE is not far behind.
You could also try using the package manager to search for any WiFi or wireless packages and install them. Also any package that provides firmware. |
