Default Linux Distros - Compare - downloads

I have been reading about Linux Distros and i saw so many great distros like Musix GNU Linux, and Ubuntu Studio

Now, is there a way to get all the great programs from Ubuntu Studio to Ubuntu 7.10, or Musix to Ubuntu.

Is there a site with all the great Linux software?

ashaiba, let me try to understand because I can't be even slightly helpful if I don't grasp the essentials.

Why do you want a computer? What functions do you want to perform? What's vital and what's just interesting but optional?

If I can understand that then I can begin to answer your questions because I actually know lots of answers. Any rational reply at all is a good starting point.

People who are expert with Adobe Photoshop can earn $100k a year.

People who are expert with Dreamweaver can earn $100k a year too.

People who are good with both Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver have a lot of trouble earning even $40k a year. That's the way companies work.

So why do you want a computer?

It helps us help you to select the software you'll get most out of and learn most from and find most suited to your aims and abilities. That's why there's not just one Web Design package and not just one virtual sequencer or video editor in the world. And once we've done that it ought to start to become clear which distribution of which operating system is most suited to your objectives.

This may be a silly question but what do Photoshop and Dreamweaver cost between them? There's something completely missing from this exchange that I haven't grasped.

You're still talking $200 per student even at the cheapest they do for the pair, licensed for a single student computer, and I don't think K12 licensing goes as low as the college prices.

Are you serious about wanting to learn to use those products? It takes people months to get to grips with either, the time investment is huge.

If you're going to then for goodness sake run them on the platform they're designed to be used with, there's no point whatever in switching to some arcane combination when you already own all three operating system environments. It's hard enough to use them at all without adding the uncertainty of where the errors are coming from.
